Fighting obesity with The Mediterranean Diet

The most dangerous habit the vast majority of American people have in regards to their morbidly overweight selves is that their typical way of eating revolves around starving themselves or relying solely on some form of supplemental bar or protein powder or magical diet pill. Almost no one thinks about actually preparing and eating natural, whole foods.

As a result, the United States is the world leader in obesity, with the Center for Disease Control estimating that 72% of Americans are overweight or obese. Out of those 72%, an estimated 34% are considered obese to the point of dangerously unhealthy, and out of those 34% only an estimated 6% have an actual genetic reason for being obese. The rest of those are simply fat because they don't know any better, or they just don't care.

Furthermore, the latest study from The Medical Research Council's Epidemiology Unit in Cambridge states that roughly 40% of those six per cent who are obese could actually stop being fat simply by incorporating a regular exercise routine along with cutting down on their food consumption through a whole foods eating plan such as The Mediterranean Diet.

That's powerful information. It means that out of the six percent of people who claim they have no choice but to be fat, that their weight is completely out of their control, only half of them are actually, truly fat because they have no choice. The other half can eliminate obesity from their lives altogether through a simple combination of a whole food eating plan such as The Mediterranean Diet while also doing some regular fitness.

Ask any nutritionist and you'll find out that the hardest part of being in shape isn't the fitness itself, but the controlling of the diet, which accounts for 70% of any fitness regimen. The other 30% is the workout itself, but the core principles all come down to the quality of the food you are putting into the body. When nothing but high-quality, whole foods are going in, you'll see positive results coming out.

There's no doubt that regular exercise is important, but nutrition still beats the pants off of a workout routine. Which is why The Mediterranean Diet is so superior in terms of whole foods and raw nutrition, because there isn't a diet plan on the planet which comes close to having as much total, raw nutrition as you get from eating roughly 80% fruits and vegetables and zero processed and synthetic power bars and protein shakes. If it's all about getting out what you put in, this is the ultimate healthy lifestyle choice for overweight and obese people.
