When you are feeling hungry it is so easy to reach for the nearest pie or chocolate bar. Instead eat low glycemic snacks. They will give you the boost that you need. However, they are so much better for your health.

If the carbohydrates in a food breaks down quickly this leads to a sharp rise in blood glucose levels. This means that it falls high on the Glycemic Index. The rise in these levels is followed by a swing to a low level. This sudden drop is believed to cause many problems for long term health.

The right snack is very important when you are trying to change your eating habits or to lose weight. The quick release of glucose triggers a hormone response that tells your brain you are hungry. If it released more slowly, you feel satisfied for a much longer period.
