If you're like most of the people out there, you will have tried a few different diets and had a different degree of successes. You probably have lost weight, until you get to a specific point, and then you don't lose any more, whatever you do. This plateau that most people hit, is typical with virtually all diet plans. It's not possible to avoid the plateau problem if you don't discover how to fool your metabolism.

You most likely have already hit the plateau at least once--in fact, it has most likely caused a frustrating end to more than one diet program. This is an unusual thing that happens to even the most successful dieters sometime close to the third or fourth week of the diet they have selected. Until that point the weight seems to come off with no problems and then it just quits and nothing really works to help the body shed more pounds. This is how your body responds to all of the changes you have been forcing upon it. Your body decreases your rate of metabolism when you arrive at this point as it wants to protect you from accidental starvation. What this ultimately ends up doing is keeping your body from shedding any more weight.

That is why people stop trying to shed pounds because, this plateau keeps them from believing that doing so is achievable. This is exactly what causes most of the people to start eating again and they usually gain back more weight than they lost in the first place. The best way to stop this is to choose a diet where your calories merely get shifted. What you want to do is eat a different number of calories daily, which purportedly helps you deceive your metabolism. If this works on your body it won't enter "protective" mode. It will keep your metabolism constant instead of slowing down and you're going to drop even more weight. When you reach this point, you have passed the plateau and your diet will keep on working the way it was made to.

It is pretty simple to integrate this type of plan into your everyday routine. One of the most well-known strategies for caloric shifting is the 14 day method. This method goes for 14 days: you do ordinary things for the first eleven and then in the last three you eat anything you want. You switch your foods throughout the day, deceiving your metabolism, and for three day eat what you want, preventing the plateau. This really is rather handy in keeping you on course with the more stringent dieting programs. Just continue repeating the fourteen days until you've attained your weight loss targets.

One other popular program is the 2 day plan in which you eat as normal one day and the next cut your calories by between twenty and thirty five percent. You could keep on doing this every two days for as long as necessary to get your weight off. It is a program that you really should try, since it may be exactly what can get you past your plateau, to where you will get rid of all the weight you want.
