Preparing A Low Carb Breakfast

I am always famished when I get up in the mornings. I guess it's been programmed into me from years of eating breakfast as soon as I get up. It's tiring having to decide what to eat when you're barely awake and none of the choices sound that great. I have a preference for low carb foods for breakfast. I can choose from a variety of foods that range from muffins and pancakes to eggs and omelets.

The staple of most low carb breakfasts are eggs and egg products. And the low carb recipes out there reflect this. There are very many simple to elaborate ways to making an omelet. Omelets are generally very easy to prepare, but with a few tricks and tips from experts, you can make them even better.

First, always fry the vegetables first as they take longer to cook than the eggs. People like their onions fully cooked when added to omelets. Place a bit of butter into the frying pan and sautee the chopped onions until they turn transparent.

Second, use flavorful elements in your omelet. Eggs, in general, are not that tasty, so you should make sure the ingredients you add would also add flavor to it. That is precisely why bacon is often added to omelets. Onions can also add flavor. I've grown to really enjoy leeks in my omelets. Seasoning your omelets is also a good way of making it more flavorful. Hot sauce can be added for those who like some spice. I like to mix the spices and condiments in with the beaten eggs so that it's spread throughout the dish. Adding a pinch of salt in your omelet can also be done in the same manner.

The third step is to cook the eggs but not too much. This is probably the most crucial bit of advice. Overcooked eggs are dry and disgusting no matter what amazing ingredients you put into them. Tasty eggs should be soft when they are cooked. If you get the feeling that the eggs are in danger of being overcooked, then they are done! You may be daunted by the thought of deciding whether the eggs are already done or not yet. It is unfortunately a very fine line. The only way to get good at this is experience. Judging whether the eggs are done or not yet will come easier to you after you have cooked a ton of omelets.

These same tips also apply to scrambles. However, do not think that scrambles and omelets are the only low carb egg products you can have for breakfast. Baked eggs are also popular. An easy way to make egg bakes is with a muffin pan. The pan can easily accommodate one egg. Then you can add bacon and other spices to it. Let it bake in the oven as you go about preparing to go to work or school.

Maybe, like me, you barely find enough time to whip up a simple omelet in the mornings. Something really quick is needed. The ideal fix is low carb cereal and ready-made muffin. Another quick option you can have for a low carb breakfast is protein shakes. These can be made with just a shaker and some protein powder. The more complicated protein shakes make use of some fruits and coconut milk. Even with some extra ingredients, these shakes rarely take more than a few minutes to make. This leaves you full and nourished as well as plenty of time to get to work or school.
