Fool Your Metabolism So That Your Weight Loss Doesn't Hit A Plateau

If you're like most of the people out there, no doubt you've tried a number of diets to different degrees of success. You could have lost some weight but you typically get to a certain point and then nothing you do can help you shed more pounds. The plateau thing is in fact very common--it is something that people deal with regardless of what diet plan they follow. You cannot prevent the plateau problem if you don't discover how to deceive your metabolism.

It is likely you have already hit the plateau at least once--in fact, it has probably caused a frustrating end to more than one diet program. The plateau is a strange occurrence and it happens to even the best dieters when they get to the third or fourth week of their diet plans. Up to that point weight is coming off and then it just quits, and practically nothing works to keep the body losing weight. This is one way your body reacts to all of the changes you happen to be forcing upon it. Your body decelerates your metabolic rate when you arrive at this point since it wants to protect you from accidental starvation. What this does, then, is keep your body from shedding any more excess fat.

This is what makes people believe that they simply aren't capable of reaching their weight loss objectives and they quit. At this point they go back to eating, and gaining their excess fat back plus even more than they lost usually. The simplest way to stop this is to pick a diet where your calories just get shifted. This means that you eat a different number of calories each day which can help deceive your metabolism. If this works on your body it won't get into "protective" mode. It will keep your metabolism stable instead of slowing down and you are going to lose even more weight. When you arrive at this point, you have passed the plateau and your diet will keep on working the way it was designed to.

It is very simple and easy to integrate this type of plan into your day to day life. One of the more well-known techniques of calorie shifting is the 14 day method. The program goes for 14 days: you do typical things for the first eleven and then in the last three you eat whatever you desire. You rotate your foods throughout the day, fooling your metabolism, and for three day eat what you want, stopping the plateau. This is also rather handy in keeping you on the right track with the more stringent dieting programs. You can keep repeating these 14 days until you really feel happy with the amount of weight you have dropped.

The 2 day plan is yet another excellent plan in which you eat as usual for one day and then cut your calories by 20% all the way up to 35%. You do this every 2 days for as long as it takes you to achieve your weight loss objectives. It is a program that you really should try, as it might be exactly what can get you past your plateau, to where you will shed all the weight you want.
