People in the western world are now fatter then ever before. Through a combination of bad diet and insufficient exercise, many are now obese. Obesity is one of the greatest health challenges in the developed world as it leads to a myriad of diseases and illnesses. A burning fat mentor will use a combination of advice, motivation and one one guidance to ensure people lose weight quickly and permanently.

Joining a local gym is the best option for most people looking to make lifestyle changes. To enlist the services of a fitness instructor or personal trainer can be a very expensive task when done on its own. However, good gyms have teams of experts available to offer advice and guidance and their services are often included in the cost of membership. They are professionally certified individuals who are trained to react to individual limitations and physical capabilities.

In order to tailor an exercise program to the individual, a fitness expert would first need to meet with the client and gauge current fitness levels, general health and personal goals. Goals are important to understand as they are very personal issues and can be used to motivate. The final goal of exercise will also dictate frequency and intensity aspired to.

Too many people, new to exercise, dive straight into it and end up injuring themselves. A mentor will be fully trained in effective warming-up procedures and be able to take people through them step by step. There are then a number of options to consider with regard to burning fat, however, one of the most effective and popular is the interval training approach.

This form of exercise regime is usually cardiovascular in nature, so can therefore be performed through running, cycling, swimming and rowing very easily. The idea relies on the premise that all exertion is rated on a scale of one to ten. Exercise periods are divided into two minute intervals. The first two minutes will involve exercise at an exertion rate of three or four on the scale.

Once the two minutes are complete, the person will then need to increase the intensity to six. Levels gradually rise until the exerciser is exerting at a rate of nine or ten. The rate is then reduced back to the starting level and the process begins again. The number of times this is repeated will usually depend on the fitness level of the individual.

People prefer this exercise regime as it is entirely subjective. Everyone, regardless of their own fitness, can gauge what a level ten is, therefore can also relate to all the other levels of exertion within the scale. By exercising at the very limit of a person's ability, the process of fat burning is sped up considerably.

A burning fat mentor will also give expert advice on diet. Many people fall into the trap of exercising vigorously, without making the necessary changes to diet. The body needs the correct fuel, like any car, in order to perform at its best. Certain changes in diet can make exercise more effective and speed up the process of weight loss. It is also worth remembering that increases in the frequency and amount of food consumed are sometimes beneficial. It isn't always a matter of reducing calorie intake.
